What you will do 

We currently have an opportunity for an Appointed Director to join our Board, for a term of up to three years. The Director role is a strategic position within ESSA, responsible for governing the organisation. 

What you will bring 

We are ideally seeking candidates with prior involvement on a significant not-for-profit board or equivalent experience. Our new Board Director will have extensive experience in one or more of our priority areas:  

• Expertise in technology, AI, and innovation  
• Finance and accounting 
• Legal, regulatory and compliance 
• Commercial and business strategy 

Applicants must be eligible to be appointed as a Director in Australia in accordance with ASIC and ACNC stipulations. New Directors will be supported to attend the AICD Foundations of Directorship Course to upskill their governance knowledge if required. 

What you will commit to 

• Attendance at Board meetings approximately every second month, primarily on the fourth Friday of the month
• Participation in a Board Committee, if appointed
• Attendance at Board strategic workshops, ~1 per year held in person over 1-2 days
• Attendance at annual general meeting, which may be held in-person or online once per year
• Attendance at annual major event (conference/forum) at varying locations throughout Australia
• Out of session work e.g. reading, discussions, voting and extraordinary meetings (approximately 2-4 days per month)

The role is modestly remunerated from an aggregated annual remuneration pool (indexed annually) payable to all ESSA Directors and all related expenses are paid.
