SAC operates across several regions throughout the Southern areas of Western Australia. We are committed to delivering a holistic wrap-around service model for our community and working collaboratively with other service organisations to provide the best care and outcomes for our people.
SAC now has a fantastic opportunity for a devoted solicitor to join our team in Bunbury (or be based at one of our other office locations (Katanning and Narrogin).
Reporting to the Principal Solicitor, the Solicitor will provide quality legal advice, representation and referral to clients relating to family violence issues. The role also involves working within the community to increase awareness and deliver community legal education.
To be successful in this position it is essential you hold a Bachelor of Law or equivalent qualifications, and at least 2 years post admission experience as a legal practitioner in WA. As FVPLS provides legal services in the area of family law, you will have demonstrated experience in this area. Your ability to conduct litigation and manage large caseloads will be key to your success in this role.
An analytical approach to problem solving will aid you in conflict resolution and your excellent interpersonal skills will allow you to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Importantly, you will have the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people. Proven experience working in these communities will be highly regarded.
We are offering a full-time role (36.5 hours per week) with part-time applications considered. The role is currently funded until 30 June 2030 with extension subject to funding.
Please Note: A current driver's licence is a requirement of this position as you will be providing outreach to surrounding areas. Applicants must also be prepared to undergo Prior Offender History and Working With Children Checks.
