Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future. 

In this role, you will work alongside a Project Director, and report to the Program Director – Landside Buildings.

You will lead a team that monitors contractor planning, safety, quality, construction, workplace relations, testing, commissioning, and completion and turnover.

You will be involved in the management of key stakeholder and third-party interfaces though all stages of delivery including ORAT.

You will monitor that the contractor is compliant with project policies, procedures, site rules and procedures, and is performing within specifications and schedules.

The hiring process for this position involves customer approval. 

Leadership / Supervision

• Engage proactively with your teams’ development through competency development/assessment and feedback.
• Monitor that processes and procedures are fully developed and implemented.

Planning / Productivity

• Prepare and present reports and forecasts, including summaries of construction progress and expenditure forecasts.

Safety & Quality

• Actively monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements and encourage contractors to perform in a safe manner.
• Monitor work activities and the quality of work performed by the contractor.

Commercial / Contracts

• Prepare Request for Tender (RFT) documentation and actively participate in bid evaluation and recommendations to award.
• Actively participate through the procurement phase including evaluations and recommendations to award.
• Develop contractor claim mitigation and claim avoidance strategies.

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15  years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

• Demonstrated experience in the successful management of major projects in the infrastructure and aviation industries. 
• Experience working with and managing contracts. 
• Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction. 
• Known for high level of interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation and with outside organizations.
• Computer literate in MS Office and database applications as well as BIM environments required.
• Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness. 
• Manages the work efforts of managers or professionals
• Responsible for staffing decisions, performance appraisals, and pay reviews
• Supports the training of new team members as required, through both formal training courses and on-the-job training. 
• Makes decisions based on business objectives and allocated resources
• May be responsible for a major functional Program and not have any subordinate employees
• Participates in planning and budgeting
• Prepares, assembles or contributes to board reports
