Site Manager / Study Coordinator

Momentum Clinical Research is establishing a new site in Canberra, creating an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious clinical research professional to build and lead an operation from the ground up.

As our Site Manager / Study Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to help establish the site, recruit and develop its team, create effective ways of working, build local relationships and take genuine ownership of its performance and culture.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is motivated by the chance to create something, not simply inherit it.

Momentum Clinical Research forms a 20-site network across Australia and New Zealand, delivering world-class clinical trials from Phase I through Phase IV, including through a dedicated Phase I business unit.

Our expanded operational scale, integrated systems and growing team position us as one of Australasia’s most capable and agile clinical trial delivery platforms.

The opportunity

This position combines approximately 60% Study Coordination and 40% Site Management. You will lead the day-to-day operation and delivery of studies at the Canberra site while remaining closely involved in participant care and clinical research activities. 

Reporting to the Research Area Manager, you will have direct responsibility for site staff and play a central role in establishing a high-performing, inclusive and participant-focused team.

You will:

• Help establish and take ownership of the new Canberra site.

• Recruit, lead, motivate and develop the site team.

• Manage daily site operations, staffing, workflow and resources.

• Oversee study delivery, timelines, data quality, performance and safety compliance.

• Coordinate clinical trials and research studies to the required quality, regulatory and ethical standards.

• Undertake participant assessments, study visits, informed consent processes and medical documentation as required.

• Supervise and support Investigators, Clinical Research Coordinators, Nurses, and Clinical Trial Assistants.

• Manage site budgets and monitor performance and operational efficiency.

• Maintain study documentation, reporting, audit readiness and Good Clinical Practice compliance.

• Identify and escalate clinical risks and adverse events appropriately, ensuring participant safety.

• Build strong local relationships with investigators, clinicians, hospitals, universities, clinics, GPs and advocacy groups.

• Lead confidently through change while driving continuous improvement in quality, efficiency and outcomes.

About you

You are proactive, motivated and solutions-focused, with the energy and resilience to establish a new site and turn it into a successful clinical research operation.

You will bring:

• A strong background in clinical research operations.

• Experience managing site operations, teams or projects within a regulated healthcare or research environment.

• Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, clinical trial governance, and regulatory and ethical requirements.

• The ability to balance operational leadership with hands-on clinical responsibilities.

• Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building experience.

• Strong influencing, collaboration and problem-solving capabilities.

• A calm and objective approach when working under pressure.

• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and participant safety.

• Integrity, professionalism and a commitment to ethical standards.

• A tertiary qualification in Nursing together with current professional registration
