As the largest paediatric health service in Australia, we care for thousands of children each year, in hospital and at home. Our people are united by compassion, collaboration and excellence in care.
Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes - with one purpose in mind - to help young people live their healthiest lives. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to work in the SCHN Hospital in the Home (HITH) service. There are a number of different models of care within HITH with cardiorespiratory support being a main focus.
What you'll be doing
The HITH/Ambulatory Physiotherapist is responsible for delivery of comprehensive physiotherapy services to children and young people within the SCHN ambulatory units (Acute Review Clinic (ARC), Turner Day Stay and Medical Day Unit (MDU)) as well as delivering home-based care to children admitted under the HITH model of care.
The main aim of the HITH service is to reduce length of stay or avoid hospitalisation and the physiotherapist plays a key role in the multidisciplinary team.
The physiotherapist will also contribute to the planning and development of the Ambulatory and HITH services, including exploring new models of care.
The HITH physiotherapist must work closely with teams such as the Cystic Fibrosis team, the inpatient Physiotherapy teams and other teams whose patients are managed under a HITH model.
The HITH service operates as a network service across both hospital sites of SCHN and as such, although based within the CHW Physiotherapy Department, the HITH physiotherapist may have to work at either Westmead or Randwick and be prepared to travel by car to home visits within a large catchment area. A hospital car is provided and a current NSW Drivers License is required.
Additional Benefits (where applicable): Flexible work opportunities, Salary packaging and meal entertainment benefits, accrued days off (ADOs), fitness passport, employee assistance program (EAP)
