About the role
We are seeking an experienced, collaborative and student-focused Deputy Principal to join our school leadership team and contribute to a culture of excellence, inclusion and continuous improvement.
This is a temporary full-time position until 30 October 2026, unless otherwise determined. If you are an innovative, ethical and highly motivated educational leader committed to making a meaningful difference to students and the wider school community, we would welcome your application.
About Us
Parramatta State School, located centrally in Cairns, strives for success for all students in a welcoming and accepting environment. We set high expectations for student learning achievement for all and encourage diversity in teaching practices and pedagogies. We are a school of many and diverse cultures, including indigenous cultural groups.
Our Prep to Year 6 curriculum is taught using the Australian Curriculum, including the General Capabilities, catering for Student Diversity, inclusive practices and embedding the Cross Curriculum Priorities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures.
Our school focuses on literacy and numeracy, but offers a broad curriculum that integrates the use of learning technologies. Every classroom is equipped with a ceiling/wall digital projector and teachers and students have access to a modern library, music and sports facilities.
Parramatta State School's student population is diverse, with the suburban community comprising of a broad cross section of occupations and cultural groupings. The student population reflects the social and cultural diversity of the surrounds. A significant feature of the school is its multi—cultural community.

Support strategic school leadership - Work alongside the Principal to develop and implement a shared educational vision focused on high-quality learning outcomes, student success and continuous improvement, and deputise for the Principal when required.Lead with integrity and equity - Uphold values-based, ethical and accountable leadership while embedding socially just, inclusive and respectful practices across the school community.Drive high expectations and professional growth - Promote high standards of student achievement, staff performance and wellbeing, while fostering a culture of lifelong learning, professional development and continuous improvement.Build meaningful partnerships and future-focused practice - Develop strong relationships with students, families, government agencies, community groups, industry and business, while embracing strategic, innovative and future-oriented approaches to education.Ensure effective governance and resource management - Apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures and manage people, facilities, finances and other resources strategically to achieve school priorities and goals.
