HR is at the heart of what we do, but our support often extends beyond traditional HR – we help our clients solve problems, find the right people, improve processes and support the broader operational needs of their businesses.

What You'll Be Doing

Honestly? It depends on the day. You could start your morning supporting a client with a performance review, jump into an Award interpretation, review candidates for a tender, prepare an employment contract, check a client inbox, support an audit, run a recruitment process, liaise with a payroll provider – and somewhere in between, probably do some admin.

That's the beauty of HR-Xcellence. We don't put ourselves in a box when it comes to supporting our clients, and we're looking for someone who works the same way.

You'll get involved in:

• Providing practical HR and employee relations advice directly to clients, managers and employees, including managing matters of varying complexity.

• Interpreting modern awards, employment conditions and workplace legislation.

• Preparing contracts, variations, policies, letters and other HR documentation.

• Managing end-to-end recruitment, sourcing and candidate assessment.

• Supporting tenders and project resourcing – understanding requirements and finding the right people to meet them.

• Supporting client audits, compliance, systems, reporting and broader business operations.

• Monitoring multiple client and shared inboxes and ensuring matters are actioned and followed through.

• Working confidently across different systems, platforms and client environments.

• Liaising with external providers including payroll, technology/development and other professional partners.

• Undertaking the research, coordination and administration needed to keep client work moving.

Who We're Looking For

First and foremost, you're a genuine people person – warm, approachable, switched-on and solutions-focused.

You'll know your HR, with solid generalist or consulting experience across employee relations, modern awards, recruitment and employment documentation. You'll be confident dealing directly with clients and capable of managing both the everyday and the more complex.

You'll also be someone who:

• Works with pace and can comfortably juggle multiple competing priorities.

• Takes ownership and follows things through without needing to be chased.

• Is resourceful – if you don't know something, your instinct is to work out how to find the answer.

• Can move comfortably between HR consulting, recruitment, operational work and administration.

• Writes well and produces professional, client-ready work.

• Is tech-savvy and confident learning new systems and tools.

• Uses sound judgement and knows when to run with something and when to seek additional input.

• Is happy to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is needed to deliver for the client.

A principle that's served us pretty well over the years is say yes first, then work out how. You don't need to have every answer, but you do need the knowledge, curiosity and savviness to find it.

And importantly, egos are left at the door. In a small consulting business, no task is beneath anyone if it's what needs to be done.

What's On Offer

This isn't big corporate HR and you won't disappear into one speciality.

You'll work closely with the Principal Consultant and directly with our clients and their teams, with genuine autonomy and the opportunity to broaden your experience across different industries, businesses and challenges.

We're small, hands-on and growing, and this role will suit someone who enjoys being part of the action and wants to contribute to that growth.

The role will be a blend of office-based and work-from-home arrangements on the Sunshine Coast, giving you flexibility while still having the collaboration that comes from working closely together.
