Assistant Accountant (12 months Fixed Term Contract)

The Arcadia Group is an owner-operator of premier retirement village communities across Western Australia and Victoria.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time, 12 month fixed-term contract, based at our Subiaco head office.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will provide hands-on support across a broad range of accounting and finance activities and is a great opportunity for someone looking to further develop their accounting experience within a supportive and collaborative team.

• General Accounting: Support day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger maintenance.

• Month-End: Assist with month-end processes, including bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.

• Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and ensure financial information is accurate and complete.

• Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the Finance team with the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.

• Financial Analysis: Assist with variance, trend and other financial analysis to support management decision-making.

• Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation and assist with audit and compliance requirements.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to obtain financial information and resolve accounting queries.

• Ad Hoc Support: Assist the Finance Manager and senior management with ad hoc financial tasks, reporting and projects as required.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting or finance experience.

• CPA or CA studies completed or underway would be highly regarded.

• Experience using accounting software and/or ERP systems.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

• A sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people across the organisation.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

• A positive, practical and team-focused approach.
