About the Role
Join a nationally significant NHMRC-funded research program focused on advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kidney health outcomes. As a Research Associate, you will contribute to impactful research that supports communities to design and implement evidence-based health interventions aimed at reducing the burden of chronic kidney disease. Working within Flinders University's Rural and Remote Health team in Darwin, you will collaborate with researchers, communities, and industry partners across regional, remote and national settings to deliver meaningful health outcomes.
This position makes a significant contribution to the University's strategic plan to change 10 million lives, Every One Matters, by 2035 through directly contributing to the strategic driver of Research that Matters. By advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander kidney health through impactful, community-informed research, the role supports the generation of evidence, partnerships and knowledge that drive meaningful health improvements across regional, rural and remote communities.
About You
You are an emerging researcher with a passion for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes through impactful, community-centred research. With a background in public health, Indigenous health or a related discipline, you bring strong research skills, experience working across diverse stakeholder groups, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes that contribute to meaningful change in regional, rural and remote communities.

Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT
At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.
Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce. All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community.
