Yard Superintendent

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Yard Superintendent to lead and oversee yard operations at our Perth Airport branch. This is a senior leadership role responsible for optimising performance, leading teams, and ensuring safe, compliant and efficient freight movement across the site.

About the Role
You will provide strategic and hands-on leadership across yard operations, ensuring the effective coordination of people, equipment and processes. You will play a key role in driving operational performance, continuous improvement and safety outcomes across the depot.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all yard operations, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant freight handling
• Provide strong leadership to supervisors and yard teams, building capability and driving accountability
• Oversee workforce planning, rostering and labour utilisation to meet operational demands
• Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, productivity and service delivery
• Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management and load restraint requirements
• Monitor operational performance, KPIs and service levels, implementing improvements where required
• Optimise yard layout, equipment utilisation and workflow to maximise efficiency
• Lead incident investigations, risk management and corrective actions
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, linehaul, fleet and customer-facing teams
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across yard operations

About You

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role within transport, logistics or yard operations
• Strong understanding of end-to-end freight operations and yard management
• Demonstrated ability to lead leaders and drive team performance at scale
• Solid knowledge of CoR, fatigue management and load restraint practices
• Highly developed organisational and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
• A hands-on leadership style with a focus on safety and operational excellence

Licences & Requirements

• LF Forklift Licence (highly desirable)
• Load Restraint knowledge or certification (highly regarded)
• Fatigue management knowledge or experience (highly regarded)
