Finance Manager - Accounting

Location: Chullora, Sydney, NSW

About The Role

This is a integral part of the Australian Finance Operations Team and is a hands-on Finance Manager leading the day-to-day finance function. Including month-end, team management and driving continuous improvement across processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End

Deliver an accurate month-end close within agreed timeframesPrepare and review monthly management reporting, including P&L and balance sheetContinuously tighten the close calendar — identifying bottlenecks, inconsistencies and shortening the cycle where possibleReview and co-ordinate balance sheet recsSupport the quarterly reporting to the USSupport the annual budget and rolling forecast process

Team Management

Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants, setting clear priorities and accountabilityRun regular one-on-ones and performance reviews; build development plans that grow capability within the teamManage workload allocation across the team, particularly through peak periods (month-end, year-end, audit)Foster a culture of engagement, ownership, accuracy and continuous improvement

Process Improvement

Identify and deliver improvements across finance processes — automation, standardisation, and elimination of manual workaroundsLead or support finance systems initiatives (ERP optimisation, reporting tools, workflow automation)Document and maintain process controls; strengthen the internal control environmentPartner with operations and other finance teams to streamline cross-functional processes

Compliance & Other

Support statutory obligations including production of the financial statements and tax returns including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and income taxAct as a key contact for external auditors; manage audit deliverables and timelinesEnsure compliance with accounting standards (AASB/IFRS) and internal policiesAd hoc analysis and projects

About You

An enthusiastic and dynamic manager, able to motivate and foster an engaged finance teamStrong communicator who can effectively articulate and manage cross functional issuesCA/CPA qualified with 5+ years' post-qualification experienceProven experience managing a month-end close and leading a small finance teamStrong technical accounting knowledge (SOX/AASB/IFRS), ideally with an audit backgroundExperience of Treasury and taxExperience of delivering US Sarbanes Oxley complianceDemonstrated track record of process improvementAdvanced Excel; ERP experience essential (e.g. NetSuite, Dynamics, SAP, Oracle);Experience of TM1 reporting tool would be valued as would Power BI or similar
