Senior Adviser, Member Support - Jobs Academy (Social Worker)

• The salary range for this role is equivalent to SCHADS Award Level 5 ($102k - $108k + Superannuation). This is a flexible hybrid or remote role, open to candidates Australia-wide.

Jobs Academy is a flexible, fully virtual program helping women who have lost connection with paid work. Jobs Academy: Thrive will support victim-survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV) to become job ready, improve financial literacy, build confidence, and facilitate a return to the workforce. The program recognises secure and fulfilling paid work as central to long-term economic security, safety, and independence. Jobs Academy: Thrive is a fully virtual program delivered with the support of the Minderoo Foundation. 

Job Purpose / Overview

The new role will work alongside an established learning, development and delivery team to support the capacity building, long-term recovery and economic empowerment of women who have experienced DFV and are now ready and able to engage in navigating pathways back into training, education, or paid employment. Working as a member of the Learning and Engagement team, this role will deliver holistic support at scale for employability skills program participants, rather than being centrally focused on crisis management or long term support. 

Operating through a trauma-informed, person-centred lens, this role will build employment readiness through psychosocial support and coaching, holistic safety assessment, case management, and will coordinate warm, active referrals to local support agencies and internal employment specialists to facilitate long-term economic security and address non-vocational barriers. As a national program, we’ll seek a candidate who is comfortable translating their expertise across varying state frameworks.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to conduct needs assessments and inform program design, comprehensive training curriculum and resources tailored to the needs of participants affected by DFV. This includes articles, podcasts, social media and video.
• Proactively bridge workflow gaps by designing process improvements and targeted training, maximising cohort support across the Learning & Engagement team
• Deliver client centred, trauma-informed case management to a caseload of women preparing to re-enter the workforce whilst navigating a history of DFV and/or experiencing complex life transitions, with a focus on building self-efficacy and economic independence.
• Conduct specialist risk assessments utilising recognised state/territory frameworks (e.g., MARAM in VIC, DV-SAT in NSW, or equivalent state frameworks).
• Leverage a strong knowledge of the Australian community services landscape (including legal assistance, crisis housing, Centrelink, childcare subsidies, and financial hardship supports) to establish warm, active referrals to external specialist providers (e.g., Community Legal Centres, housing services, financial counsellors, health services).
• Build collaborative working relationships with DFV networks, Women’s Health Services, Working Women's Centres, and community bodies.
• Identify and address non-vocational barriers through the use of a referral network.
• Support an escalation team of non-clinical service providers to offer crisis response, risk escalation, and emergency safety interventions when required.
• Offer coaching and facilitation alongside an established learning, development and delivery team for women navigating pathways back into training, education, or paid employment.

Key Selection Criteria (KSC)

1. DFV & Safety Expertise: Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of domestic and family violence, trauma-informed practice, and practical experience applying Australian state-based risk assessment frameworks (e.g., MARAM, DV-SAT).
2. Holistic Case Management: Proven track record in delivering client-centred case management to women experiencing complex life transitions, with a focus on building self-efficacy and economic independence.
3. Sector Knowledge & Service Navigation: Strong knowledge of the Australian community services landscape, including legal assistance, crisis housing, Centrelink, childcare subsidies, and financial hardship support.
4. Cultural Safety & Intersectionality: Demonstrated commitment to delivering culturally safe services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) women, LGBTIQ+ individuals, and women living with disabilities.
5. Interpersonal, Facilitation & Advocacy Skills: Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, interest or experience in coaching and facilitation, with a proven ability to build trust with clients and advocate effectively with external agencies.

Tertiary / Vocational Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in Social Work (Bachelor or Qualifying Master) with a minimum of 4 years experience. Current eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), with AASW Accredited Family Violence Social Worker credential highly regarded.
