About the role: 

The Lead Architect – Solution Design is accountable for all solution option analysis and solution design activities for initiatives assigned through formal demand and governance channels. The role ensures business needs are translated into clear, well considered solution options and recommended designs that align with departmental objectives, endorsed platforms and enterprise architecture direction.

Leading a team of Solution Analysts and a Solution Architect, the role oversees the assessment of technology platforms and the design of application and reporting architectures based on business, functional and nonfunctional requirements. This includes defining how applications, data, integration and reporting components interact to deliver cohesive, secure and fit for purpose solutions. All designs are developed using endorsed platforms and patterns to maximise value, consistency and long-term sustainability.

As a senior technical and design leader within eHealth, the role provides strategic guidance across initiatives, advising on solution options, industry trends and emerging technologies to support informed decision-making.

About you:

• Maintain architectural documentation and artefacts for departmental systems including access and integration. 

• Extend the department's ability and awareness in modern tools and technology, show-casing the art-of-the-possible on new innovative ideas and educating others on industry trends and best practices.

• Builds strong working relationships across strategy, advisory, delivery and governance functions to support aligned and timely decisions.  

• Contribute solution architecture insight to portfolio management, governance and assurance processes, ensuring proposed initiatives are feasible, aligned to endorsed platforms and consistent with enterprise direction.

• Demonstrates a strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and how they inform solution design, ensuring solution options and designs align with endorsed platforms, standards and strategic direction.

Qualifications/Specialist Expertise

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant Information Technology discipline is highly desirable. 
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft .Net, Azure cloud services, Angular and SQL server is essential. 
• Extensive experience in ICT cloud architecture, technologies and current/emerging industry trends.
• Experience working in complex stakeholder environments, with the ability to develop and clearly present solution options to business, senior management and executive stakeholders.
• Extensive experience as a Principal Developer and then as an Architect, working for medium to large government or commercial organisations with software design patterns, development standards and application frameworks.
