Laboratory Technician

A rare and exciting opportunity to join the Haymes Paint Lab Team has become available! Due to our growing demand, we have a newly created a position to expand your Colour expertise with a community & family focused business!  

You’ll prepare and dispatch colour samples that help Haymes Paint customers bring their projects to life, while supporting technical product work across the business. You’ll assist with product development, refinement, evaluation and hands-on lab tasks that keep our product projects moving. Work closely with the R&D team, in a positive, fun and supportive environment, where safety, quality and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.  

Key Responsibilities:  

• Assist in the development and testing of new products.
• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis to support product development projects.
• Assist in qualifying raw materials to ensure continuity of manufacturing supply.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Investigate and resolve product complaints within agreed timeframes.
• Provide testing results and technical information to internal stakeholders.
• Support Quality Control activities as required.
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing teams to resolve production-related issues and minimise non-conforming batches.
• Assist with maintaining laboratory systems, databases, formulations, and Bills of Materials.
• Support NATA accreditation activities and proficiency testing programs.
• Ensure laboratory procedures and documentation are maintained accurately and consistently.

About you:  

• Bachelor of Science or related discipline (Chemistry valued) is preferred but not essential
• Experience in lab, coatings or chemical environments 
• Excellent teamwork skills and communicating with others 
• High attention to detail and confidence working with materials and colour 
• Able to manage tasks, prioritise and meet deadlines 
• Able to work with MS and other software systems
