About the role
The Team
The Public Health – Improvement (Strategy and Policy) team within Population Health is responsible for leading and supporting the delivery of major whole-of-government commitments in preventive and population health. This includes Tasmania’s state 20-year preventive health strategy, state tobacco action plan, and relevant actions under the Long-Term Plan for Healthcare in Tasmania 2040.
The Role
The role provides statewide lead project management for allocated streams of work within the team’s broader program, with a particular focus on tobacco, vaping and nicotine. The role supports the planning, coordination, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of statewide population health priorities, and provides team management and guidance across policy, planning, project and program delivery activities.
In this role, you will,
Lead policy and strategic planning activities, including drafting, implementing and reviewing statewide population health policies, strategies, plans and legislative or regulatory initiatives.Apply contemporary project and program management approaches to lead the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of population health initiatives, projects and government commitments across the team’s program of work.Lead the gathering, analysis and application of evidence, data and relevant contextual information to support evidence-informed population health policy, planning, program design and decision-making
You will need to
Proactively provide evidence-informed advice, analysis and supporting documentation on population health issues, including guiding team members to produce clear, accurate and fit-for-purpose advice.Guide, support and develop team members to deliver their contributions across the team’s program of work, including coordinating work, monitoring progress, supporting capability development and maintaining quality and delivery standards.Strategically build, maintain and influence effective working relationships across government agencies, internal teams and external partners to support effective delivery of preventive health initiatives.

Details of appointment -
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.
Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$132,460 to $139,392 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025
