The Role

The Environmental Division operates a modern commercial laboratory in Brisbane (Stafford) that's equipped with the latest in analytical technology. We are seeking several experienced Laboratory Technicians to join our team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining strong relationships with their clients. Successful candidates may have just completed their Science Degree or TAFE Laboratory skills and are looking to utilise their practical laboratory experience in a working laboratory.

These roles are fast paced and require you to work at speed with accuracy. Experience in hospitality where you have juggled multiple tasks and followed processes is desirable.

The day to day

Preparation and analysis of soil, water, and sediment - weighing, digesting, titrating, or solvent extraction of samplesEnsuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work InstructionsOrganising designated tasks to maximise daily efficienciesCompleting all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standardHighlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour

The Essentials

A genuine interest in the Science industryEither TAFE or University qualificationsA desire to work in a high-throughput, client-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experienceExcellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skillsDedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safetyFlexibility to work public holidays and weekend shifts if requiredWillingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratoryDedication to go the extra mile, be solutions driven and ensure there is no compromise on quality

Additionally, the following skills and interests are advantageous and desirable:

A demonstrated interest in areas such as computer building, circuitry, automation, Excel macros, scripting, or 3D printingCoding or programming capability (e.g. VBA, Python, R, SQL or similar)Exposure to or interest in robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimisation
