Metro Trains West (MTW) is delivering Sydney Metro West, a fully automated metro network that will transform how Sydney moves for generations. This is an opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s most significant transport infrastructure projects and help shape a lasting transport legacy.

About the role
As Senior Requirements Engineer, you will establish, manage and assure system and project requirements across the full project lifecycle, ensuring they are complete, traceable, verifiable and aligned with operational, safety and contractual objectives.
Key responsibilities
Lead requirements development, derivation, allocation and traceability across system-level, subsystem and delivery package requirements.
Facilitate requirements workshops with clients, contractors, subcontractors and key stakeholders to align requirements with project objectives.
Establish and manage requirements processes aligned with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148 standards.
Support verification, validation, safety assurance and risk management activities, including FAT, SAT, testing strategies, hazard identification and risk mitigation.
Maintain the Project Interface Register working in collaboration with MTW Interface Leads.
Manage configuration item status and configuration baselines in DOORS NG working in collaboration with the MTW Configuration Lead.
Contribute to TSMO and interface contractors design and construction assurance reviews.
Drive compliance with project safety assurance plans and engineering governance requirements.
Champion continuous improvement and lessons learned across design, integration, testing and handover activities.
About you
You are an accomplished systems engineering professional with strong technical judgment, sound analytical capability and the confidence to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Degree qualification in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical or related discipline).
Extensive experience in requirements engineering within large-scale rail, transport or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and integrated assurance processes.
Experience developing and managing System Requirements Specifications (SRS), Project System Requirements Specifications (PSRS), Subsystem specifications, and Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs).
Demonstrated experience using requirements management tools including DOORS Next.
Experience contributing to safety assurance and risk management activities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Experience working on metro, rail or other safety-critical environments.
Knowledge of rail systems assurance, systems integration and interface management.
Familiarity with IEC 62267, IEC 62290 and other railway systems engineering standards.
