Sport Integrity Australia are looking to fill the role of Personnel Security and Facilities Management Adviser - APS Level 6

About the role

Working to the Agency Security Adviser (ASA), the Personnel Security & Facilities Management Adviser (PSFMA) is responsible for leading the day-to-day delivery of the agency's personnel security, facilities management and related security governance functions. The role provides strategic advice, operational leadership and specialist expertise to support secure, compliant and effective business outcomes.

The role has a strong personnel security focus and is the agency's primary operational lead for personnel security matters, including security clearances, personnel security assessments, insider threat activities and related compliance requirements. The role also coordinates facilities management, property governance and physical security activities to support a secure, compliant and effective operating environment.

As the supervisor of the APS 5 Security Adviser, the PSFMA sets priorities, exercises sound judgement and integrity, and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen organisational security, compliance, risk management and operational resilience.

The key duties:

• Coordinate and oversee the delivery of personnel security, physical security, facilities management and property-related functions, ensuring compliance with government policies, legislative requirements and agency standards.
• Supervise and support the APS 5 Security Adviser, providing guidance, quality assurance and oversight of security operations, compliance activities and reporting.
• Manage security and property-related governance activities, including AGPR and emissions reporting, security risk management, compliance monitoring and assurance activities.
• Coordinate physical security reviews, property projects and business improvement initiatives to strengthen security, compliance and operational outcomes.
• Develop, implement and review security and property policies, procedures, awareness programs and training aligned with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), and Commonwealth Property Management Framework (PMF).
• Manage relationships with stakeholders, service providers, vendors and government agencies, including AGSVA, to support the effective delivery of security and facilities services.
• Prepare complex briefs, reports, submissions, presentations and other documentation to support decision-making and strategic outcomes.
• Provide expert advice on personnel security, physical security, facilities management, governance, compliance and risk management matters.
• Promote a culture of integrity, accountability and continuous improvement while maintaining the security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Undertake other duties commensurate with the APS 6 classification as directed by the Agency Security Adviser.

The key accountabilities: 

• Deliver personnel security, physical security and facilities management services in accordance with the PSPF, PMF, legislative requirements and agency policies. 
• Provide leadership, guidance and quality assurance to ensure security and property-related functions are delivered effectively, consistently and to a compliant standard. 
• Maintain the security, confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information, personnel records and security-related systems. 
• Monitor and manage security, compliance and operational risks, identifying opportunities to strengthen assurance, governance and business outcomes. 
• Coordinate leasing, facilities management, finances / budgets, and other property related services including contracts/leases/landlord management/high level liaison. 
• Assist in managing the relationships and arrangements with suppliers as related to Property Services. 
• Coordinate property policy reviews and business improvement implementations. 
• Manage Australian Government Property Register (AGPR) Data Collection and other required reporting and compliance. 
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive security, compliance and property management outcomes. 
• Exercise sound judgement, professionalism and resilience when making decisions in sensitive, complex or risk-based environments. 
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, government policies, security requirements, agency delegations and operational procedures. 
• Uphold and promote the APS Values, Employment Principles and Code of Conduct, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability and continuous improvement.

What we are looking for (selection criteria):Compliance, Governance and Risk

• Demonstrated experience applying compliance, governance, security, audit, investigative or regulatory frameworks with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse information, identify risks, and ensure compliance with policy, legislative or operational requirements.
• Experience interpreting and applying complex procedures, standards or regulatory requirements in a consistent and practical manner.

Judgement, Integrity and Decision Making

• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain integrity, and make evidence-based decisions in sensitive or risk-based environments.
• Experience identifying opportunities to improve compliance, assurance or the management of risk.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Ability to build productive relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and professional disciplines.

Problem Solving and Delivery

• Demonstrated ability to consider different perspectives and apply critical thinking to solve complex compliance, security or operational challenges.
• Experience managing competing priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy and organisational compliance outcomes.
