Amritsari Dhaba Cannington is a well-established Indian restaurant renowned for serving authentic North Indian and Punjabi cuisine. We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Chef and Cook to join our growing kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities- Chef

• Plan, prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, vegetarian and non-vegetarian specialties.

• Develop and update menus in consultation with management.

• Maintain consistency in food quality, taste and presentation.

• Supervise kitchen staff and allocate daily duties.

• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.

• Monitor food preparation and cooking techniques to ensure quality standards are maintained.

• Estimate food requirements and control food costs.

• Order food supplies and liaise with suppliers.

• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety regulations.

• Monitor stock levels and minimise food wastage.

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen.

• Assist in creating seasonal and promotional menus.

Essential Requirements

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.

• Minimum one Year relevant experience as a Chef.

• Strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine.

• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong understanding of food safety standards.

• Salary between $80,000 and $85,000 plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities- Cook

• Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.

• Prepare ingredients, sauces, marinades and spice blends.

• Operate tandoor, grill and other commercial kitchen equipment where required.

• Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.

• Maintain food quality, consistency and presentation.

• Monitor stock levels and notify management of ordering requirements.

• Store food safely and rotate stock in accordance with food safety standards.

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations and equipment.

• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.

• Assist the Chef with menu preparation and daily kitchen operations.

• Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff during busy service periods.

Essential Requirements

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.

• One Year Relevant experience as a Cook, preferably in Indian cuisine.

• Ability to prepare authentic Indian dishes independently.
