Head of Learning - Mathematics

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Head of Learning - Mathematics to join St Leonard’s College from Term 1, 2027.

As a member of the Academic Directorate, the Head of Learning - Mathematics will lead the Mathematics faculty with vision and a commitment to continuous improvement, working closely with the Deputy Head of Learning – Mathematics, and other key staff to ensure a cohesive and high-quality Mathematics program across the College.

This pivotal leadership role provides the chance to shape the learning journey of students from Years 5-12, inspiring each learner to achieve their potential in a progressive and engaging environment. Strong pedagogical expertise, leadership capability, and exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills are essential for success.

This is a permanent, full-time teaching position, with the Head of Learning – Mathematics role offered with a 3-year tenure, as a position of responsibility. The Head of Learning - Mathematics role includes a time allocation and a monetary allowance, and an appropriate teaching subject allocation will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

To be successful in this opportunity, you will require:

• Relevant teaching qualifications and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
• Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills across years 5 - 12.
• Experience in teaching VCE and/or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Mathematics.
• Contemporary knowledge of Mathematics curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
• Knowledge of contemporary pedagogy and innovative use of ICT in the classroom to enrich learning.
• Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in planning programs and the management of budgets and resources.
• Ability to lead a team and actively support and develop team members.
• Well-developed planning, organisational and administrative skills.
• Demonstrates a solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.
• An active contributor to a collegial work environment.
• Willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the College
