About the Role

The Asset Compliance Officer regulates private developments and other activities within Council land to ensure that they do not compromise public safety, environmental quality, local amenity and the condition of community assets - both built and natural.

Reporting to the Team Leader of Planning and Asset Compliance the role’s core responsibilities include:

• Investigate reports, complaints and alleged breaches, undertaking compliance and enforcement action to achieve fair and defensible outcomes.
• Monitor activities within road reserves and private developments to ensure compliance with legislation, permits, approvals and Council requirements.
• Prepare evidence, briefs and documentation to support enforcement matters and legal proceedings where required.
• Provide timely and accurate advice to customers, stakeholders and Council staff, resolving compliance matters through effective communication and professional judgement.

About You

• Demonstrated experience investigating complaints and undertaking statutory compliance activities within a regulatory or enforcement environment.
• Well-developed ability to interpret and apply legislation, conduct investigations, gather evidence and support enforcement outcomes.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparing correspondence, reports and evidence documentation and managing challenging conversations.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, investigation practices, enforcement processes and the application of legislation, regulations and local laws.
• Strong customer focus with the ability to apply sound judgement, work independently, manage competing priorities and build positive stakeholder relationships.
