Apprentice - Radio Communications Technician

About the Role

Miles Electronics is seeking an Apprentice Radio Communications Technician to join our team in Cairns.

This is an opportunity for someone with an interest in electronics, communications or technical work to develop a career in the radio communications industry. Some relevant technical or hands-on experience would be highly regarded, however, specific experience in radio communications is not essential.

This role involves working with 2-way radios, satellite communications and microwave links. You will learn to program, repair and install equipment in a variety of settings while working alongside our experienced technicians.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Programming, Repairing, and Installing Equipment: Learn to work with a range of radio and communications equipment, including installation, testing, programming and fault finding.

• Working at Heights: While not mandatory, a rigging qualification is a plus. Be prepared to work at heights when required, including on roofs and towers.

• Team Collaboration: Initially work alongside a senior technician, developing the skills and experience to take on more responsibility as your apprenticeship progresses.

• Travel: Expect occasional travel within Queensland for on-site work.

About You

We are looking for someone who is technically minded, practical and keen to learn. Previous experience or study in areas such as electronics, electrical, telecommunications, IT, cabling, automotive electrical or other technical trades would be highly regarded.

Compensation

Remuneration will be aligned with the relevant apprenticeship award and the successful applicant's skills and experience.
