We are seeking an energetic and team orientated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic manufacturing team This is a full time permanent position and available for an immediate start.
A Mechanical Engineering foundation will provide a key element in decision making and implementing manufacturing strategies in tune with the Engineering and Manufacturing Team. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our Manufacturing Design team. In this role, you will work closely with production, manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop new products and improve existing designs. You will be responsible for identifying design issues, implementing practical engineering solutions, and ensuring products are optimized for manufacturability, quality, cost, and performance.
As the successful applicant you will be required to be part of the Manufacturing Team, you will report directly to the Operations Manager for full support and training. You will have a strong drive to succeed, self-motivated, work with others, and be able to promote a safety conscious environment.
Key requirements:
Collaborate closely with the manufacturing team to identify and resolve design-related production issues.
Design and develop new products, components, and manufacturing solutions from concept through production.
Review and improve existing product designs to enhance functionality, manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Create and maintain detailed 3D SolidWorks models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
Conduct design reviews, engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments.
Support prototype development, testing, validation, and implementation of engineering changes.
Investigate production problems and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Work with suppliers and procurement teams to select suitable materials and manufacturing processes.
Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
Provide technical support to production, quality, maintenance, and customer service teams as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in 3D SolidWorks software
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, casting, and assembly.
Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
Familiarity with ERP/PDM systems is desirable.
Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in product development and continuous improvement projects.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering practical engineering solutions.
