Stable Hand / Ground Staff – Pinecliff, Mornington Peninsula

About us

Pinecliff is a private thoroughbred training facility located between Mornington and Mount Eliza on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Home to Anthony & Sam Freedman Racing, Pinecliff provides a unique environment away from the traditional racecourse setting, allowing our horses to be trained in a relaxed and purpose-built environment.

Set across approximately 40 acres of picturesque grounds, Pinecliff is one of Victoria's premier thoroughbred training properties and features an 800m grass track, 1800m sand track, sand arena, approximately 70 stables, horse swimming pool, treadmills, and direct access to the beach.

About the role

Working with approximately 50 horses, the primary purpose of this role is to assist with the day-to-day care, handling and welfare of our thoroughbreds.

Key responsibilities

• Handling thoroughbreds of various ages and stages of their preparation

• Feeding, grooming, rugging and general horse care

• Mucking out boxes and maintaining stable areas

• Tacking horses up and down before and after exercise

• Assisting farriers and veterinarians when required

• Monitoring horse health and reporting any concerns

• Treating minor injuries and assisting with basic horse health care

• General cleaning, tidying and upkeep of the stable and property

• Maintaining the high standards of horse welfare expected at Freedman Racing

About you

• At least two years' horse handling experience

• Physically fit and comfortable working around thoroughbreds

• Reliable and punctual

• Able to follow instructions

• Self-motivated and proactive

• Observant with good attention to detail

• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

• Valid Australian working rights
