Experienced Medical Secretary / Medical Receptionist | Part-Time & Flexible

About the role

You will take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day administration of the practice, supporting one established Sport and Exercise Physician at specialist rooms in Richmond. This is a trusted and varied role offering a combination of essential in-clinic patient support and administrative work that may be completed remotely. The working pattern will be arranged around a rotating consulting timetable.

Key responsibilities

• Managing appointments, diaries and patient enquiries
• Providing warm, professional and discreet patient communication
• Coordinating referrals, reports, results and correspondence
• Maintaining accurate patient records and following matters through to completion
• Processing accounts, Medicare billing and payments
• Assisting with WorkCover, insurance and independent medical examination administration
• Liaising with referrers, allied health practitioners, insurers and other organisations
• Supporting the physician with general practice administration and problem-solving

About you

• Previous experience in medical reception, medical secretarial work or specialist rooms
• Excellent organisational skills and close attention to detail
• Warm, confident and professional communication skills
• The ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities
• Strong computer literacy and the ability to learn new systems
• Experience with medical billing and practice-management software
• Sound understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy requirements
• Reliability, good judgement and a genuine commitment to patient care
• Experience with Helix or comparable medical-practice software would be advantageous, but Helix training can be provided to the right person
