About the role

The Commis Chef is responsible for the daily production of food and for supporting the efficient running of the kitchen and its operations. The role requires preparing and presenting specialised cooking, baking, pastry and butchery work to a consistently high standard.

Key responsibilities

• General food preparation and service, ensuring timely preparation and execution of all menu items to a consistently high standard

• Maintain sound product knowledge of all items on current menus

• Assist with any other duties requested by senior chefs as needed

• Assist with stock rotation and management to reduce wastage

• Report low stock or supply issues to the Head Chef or Sous Chef in a timely manner

• Provide guidance and mentoring to cooks and kitchenhands

• Foster a team culture built on respect, collaboration and a shared commitment to quality

• Adhere to all health and food safety regulations

• Ensure food is stored, prepared and handled safely

• Monitor team hygiene and cleanliness, leading by example

About you

• Ability to prepare and present specialised cooking, baking, pastry and butchery work to a consistently high standard

• Sound product knowledge of menu items

• Commitment to health and food safety regulations

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
