About the role
Building 4.0 and the National Housing Platform are looking for an experienced and proactive Business Services Coordinator to join our team.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting an organisation working on one of Australia’s most important challenges: how to deliver more quality homes, faster, more efficiently and at greater scale.
You will help keep our people, office and business operations running smoothly. Working closely with our Executive Assistant, CFO and senior leaders, you will coordinate company-wide travel, support finance administration, manage the day-to-day operation of our Sydney office and assist with meetings, events and broader business administration for our team of 50 people.
This role will suit someone who is proactive, enjoys variety, takes ownership and is known for bringing organisation and clarity to a busy environment.
About Building 4.0 and the National Housing PlatformBuilding 4.0 is helping Australia rethink how we design, make and deliver buildings.
As an industry-led research and innovation initiative co-funded by the Australian Government, Building 4.0 brings together government, industry and research partners to address some of the country’s most pressing building challenges.
The National Housing Platform, or NHP, is the next major step in that mission. Its purpose is to make housing delivery more efficient, consistent and scalable, while improving quality, flexibility, sustainability and long-term value. It is an Australian-led, Australian-built and Australian-supported initiative, developed in response to Australia’s housing conditions, regulatory settings, supply chains and community needs.
Our ambition is to create a practical, trusted and nationally usable housing delivery platform that continues beyond the initial funding period and contributes to better housing outcomes for communities across Australia.
The opportunityAs our Business Services Coordinator, you will provide effective and efficient support across the organisation.
No two days will be the same. You might be coordinating travel, assisting the CFO with finance administration, preparing the office for an important stakeholder meeting or helping deliver an industry event.
Your responsibilities will include:
Executive and business support (approximately 40%) - Support the Executive Assistant with administration for the CEO, COO and broader organisation which will include documentation, travel, meetings, and administrative processes.
Bookkeeping and finance administration (approximately 30%) - Working under the direction of the CFO, you will assist with the end to end processes of accounts payable and accounts receivable administration.
Sydney office coordination (approximately 15%) - You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of our Mascot office including reception, supplies and services.
Events and team activities (approximately 15%) - You will work with the team to support the successful delivery of all events, which may include coordination of venues, catering, invitations, registrations, travel and event materials.
You are an experienced administrator who thrives on moving between different priorities and working with people across all levels of an organisation.
You need minimal supervision to be successful in your role. You bring sound judgment, strong attention to detail and a genuine willingness to help. You are confident following up, solving complex issues and taking ownership of your role.
You are likely to have:
At least three years’ experience in administration, office coordination, team support or a similarly varied role in a fast paced environment.
Bookkeeping or accounts administration, with experience in MYOB or similar software.
Strong technology skills including Microsoft 365.
Excellent organisation, attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through in managing competing priorities and changing requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
Proven success in identifying and introducing efficient ways of working.
A qualification in business administration or bookkeeping would be helpful, but practical experience and the right approach are more important.
This is an opportunity to contribute to work with national significance while being part of a collaborative and purpose-driven team.
You will benefit from:
The opportunity to contribute to better housing outcomes across Australia.
A varied role with genuine ownership and responsibility.
A collaborative, supportive and fun team environment.
Flexible working arrangements.
The option of full-time employment or a 0.8 FTE arrangement.
A Sydney office/warehouse based in Mascot, with onsite parking and close to public transport.
Please submit your résumé and a brief cover letter outlining:
Your relevant experience.
What appeals to you about this role and our mission.
Whether you are seeking full-time employment or a 0.8 FTE arrangement.
You do not need to meet every listed requirement to apply. We welcome applicants with strong transferable skills, initiative and a genuine interest in supporting work that can improve how housing is delivered across Australia.
A full position description is available on request.
