Job description:

Bureau Veritas is seeking an inspiring, commercially astute and growth-focused Project Director to join our Buildings Asset, Property and Program Management team (AMP). The role has a national remit while being based in Sydney.

This is a unique leadership opportunity for a senior project manager who thrives on delivering exceptional outcomes for clients while driving business growth, building high-performing teams and expanding market presence across New South Wales and nationally. The role is also a key member of the AMP leadership team, contributing to strategic direction, client engagement and national growth priorities.

In this role, you will lead complex national programs of work, retail rollout programs and minor capital work upgrades. You will play a key role in strengthening Bureau Veritas' program management capability nationally while remaining connected to the Sydney market, developing trusted client partnerships and creating new opportunities for growth.

The Opportunity

As Project Director, you will provide strategic leadership across the entire project lifecycle, acting as a trusted advisor to clients from early planning and business case development through design, procurement, delivery, operational readiness and project close-out.

This role combines project leadership, people leadership, client advisory and business development, providing a platform to shape both the future growth of our National business and the success of major client portfolios.

You will lead diverse programs and projects including:

• National programs of work delivered across multiple locations and jurisdictions
• Retail rollout and refurbishment programs
• Aviation minor works and operational upgrade projects
• Commercial, mixed-use, industrial and public sector developments
• Strategic capital investment programs and portfolio delivery services

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the successful delivery of complex buildings projects, national programs of work, retail rollouts and aviation minor works from inception through to completion.
• Provide strategic leadership across project governance, commercial performance, risk management, programme delivery and client outcomes.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, building strong relationships and delivering value beyond traditional project management services.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, fostering capability, accountability and career growth.
• Drive business development by identifying opportunities, securing new work, growing key accounts and contributing to the expansion of Bureau Veritas' Buildings business across Sydney and nationally.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience leading complex building projects and programs within a consultancy, client-side or property development environment, ideally including retail rollouts, aviation projects and multi-site programs.
• Strong commercial and technical project management capability, with proven success managing financial performance, contracts and project governance.
• Demonstrated ability to win work, develop client relationships and contribute to business growth through strategic account management and business development.
• An influential people leader with excellent stakeholder management skills, strong commercial acumen and a passion for developing high-performing teams.
