About the role
The Opportunity
Join our dynamic Grounds & Utility team in a full-time capacity as a Grounds & Utility Officer responsible for overseeing the general grounds and building maintenance of our Croagh Patrick Campus.
This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced, practical, and motivated individual who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining high-quality facilities.
You will play a key role in ensuring the campus is safe, well-maintained, and presented to a high standard for students, staff, and visitors. Key responsibilities include grounds maintenance, coordinating and undertaking general building maintenance, setting up for school functions and events, and ensuring the school grounds and surrounding areas remain clean, safe, and tidy. The role also involves maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and appearance of all external areas, including pathways and hard surfaces, contributing to scheduled preventative maintenance programs throughout the year, and assisting with the day-to-day operational needs of the Croagh Patrick Campus.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.
About You
As a Grounds & Utility Officer you will have:
A strong work ethic, eye for detail and a sense of pride in efficiently completing work to a high standard whilst maintaining the highest level of safety
Previous experience in groundskeeping, turf management, horticulture, or general building maintenance
The ability to work collegially in a team environment, as well as the ability to work independently and to follow instructions and take direction
Ability to effectively interact and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader College community
Reliable, punctual, and proactive in identifying and completing tasks
Willingness to work outdoors and take on physically active roles
Motivation, enthusiasm and a great attitude
Perform effectively in environments with competing demands, with the ability to coordinate routine activities, set priorities and deliver tasks on time
An understanding of and ability to contribute to the mission of St Patrick’s College as a Catholic school

About Us
St Patrick’s is a Catholic co-educational Year 7-12 college of approximately 1,500 students with a strong academic culture that encourages individual students to develop to their full potential through a broad educational experience.
