Teacher Science and Mathematics

Full-time | Permanent | Starting in Term 1, 2027

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science and Mathematics teacher for a full-time, permanent position commencing at the start of Term 1, 2027. The successful applicant will join our Middle and Senior School team, teaching Years 6–12, and will play a key role in supporting the academic progress and pastoral care of students. The ability to teach TASC subjects is desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and learning programs in Mathematics and Science, aligned with relevant curriculum documentation (ACARA, TASC,SRB).
• Plan, implement and evaluate lessons that support diverse learning needs through differentiated and inquiry-based approaches.
• Utilise formative assessment techniques and reflective practices to enhance student learning outcomes.
• Foster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and positive relationships.
• Participate in curriculum planning, assessment design, moderation and reporting.
• Provide effective pastoral care, building positive relationships and supporting students’ holistic development.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practice and contribute to the school’s culture of professional growth, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Participate in the School’s co-curricular and community programs, including carnivals, concerts, gatherings and team sports.

Essential Criteria

• University trained in Science and/or Mathematics and/or STEM with appropriate teaching qualifications.
• Registered or eligible for registration to teach in the State of Tasmania.
• Proven experience teaching Mathematics and/or Science at the secondary level.
• Demonstrated ability to create inclusive, engaging and effective learning experiences.
• Strong understanding of contemporary pedagogy, educational technologies and assessment practices.
• Commitment to the pastoral care and wellbeing of students.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a professional learning community.
• Understanding of and appreciation for the benefits of single gender education.
