Paralegal - Business & Property Law

Paul Davis needs a Paralegal to support him. So do Kara, Sammy and Iesha, although they are far too polite to say so.
Our Business & Property team has four people in it and enough work for five. That is the pitch. The rest of this ad is detail.
The workYou will support Paul and assist the team across:· sales and purchases of businesses· commercial and residential Contracts, including off the plan· leasing matters, including document preparation and administration· management rights· franchising· commercial agreements, sub-developments and the documents that come with them
Day to day, you will draft correspondence and transaction documents, run searches, and prepare Transfers and Settlement Notices. Contract conditions and critical dates sit with you, as does coordinating Settlements through PEXA, invoicing and disbursements. Clients, agents, brokers, accountants and banks will call you directly. You will not be parked on the photocopier.
Who we are looking forWe are open on level. An experienced Paralegal ready for better files will suit this role. So will a legal secretary in a property or commercial team who has been doing paralegal work for a while without the title. Tell us which one you are.
What matters:· you have worked in a property, conveyancing, commercial or business legal team· you can hold half a dozen deadlines in your head and still sleep at night· you check things twice, because a Contract date entered incorrectly is nobody's favourite Friday· you use your initiative rather than waiting to be asked· you can talk to a nervous first home Buyer and a hard-nosed broker in the same hour and be good at both
What you get from usYou would work directly with Paul, and assist Kara, Sammy and Iesha when you can. All of them will answer your questions rather than sighing at them. On this team the support side runs files rather than fetching them, so your responsibility grows as your experience does. The firm has been on the Sunshine Coast since 1974 and our office is located in Birtinya.
The position is full time and will be remunerated above Award rates, commensurate with experience.
