Modern Group is looking for an experienced roofer, tiler, roof plumber or leading hand to supervise our roof restoration crews across the Perth metro area.

$80,000 – $100,000 + bonus + fully maintained company vehicle. Based in Wangara. Home every night.

The role

You'll oversee multiple crews delivering residential roof restorations across the metro — re-bedding, re-pointing, repairs and coating work.

Most days you're moving between sites: checking work before it's signed off, resolving issues on the spot, and making sure crews have the materials and access they need to keep moving.

On site, you'll be:

• Inspecting workmanship first-hand — you still need to know what a properly finished ridge cap looks like

• Check measuring and verifying scope before crews start, so what was quoted matches what's actually on the roof

• Addressing work that isn't up to standard and getting it corrected, without it becoming a confrontation

• Supporting your crews — coaching less experienced tradespeople, chasing materials, clearing whatever is holding the job up

• Dealing with homeowners on site when something needs explaining

Off site, you'll be:

• Keeping customers informed — start dates, delays, variations, and the difficult conversations others would rather avoid

• Tracking stock and materials so crews aren't waiting on supply

• Recording time on jobs and flagging where hours are running over

• Raising variations when scope changes, so the additional work is captured and paid

To be clear, there is a genuine administrative component to this role. It's not hours a day, but it directly affects the outcome. Get the check measure and scope right up front and the job runs cleanly. Get it wrong and your crews carry it.

What you'll need

• Solid hands-on roofing experience — restoration, tiling, roof plumbing or comparable residential work

• Formal trade qualifications aren't required. Practical knowledge and a track record matter more here than a certificate

• Confidence using a tablet and phone for job notes, photos and stock records — we'll train you on our systems, but you need to be open to it

• Working at heights and White Card (or willingness to obtain them)

• Current Australian driver's licence

• The ability to tell someone their work isn't good enough and have them still want to work for you

What we offer

• $80,000 – $100,000 base, depending on experience

• Performance bonus on top paid monthly based on completed jobs

• Fully maintained company vehicle and fuel card

• Perth metro only — no FIFO, no regional travel, no camp accommodation

• Full-time salaried position, PAYG — not a day rate or subcontract arrangement

• A team to build, develop, and genuine input into how the division operates as it grows
