About the role
HR Driver / Vacuum Truck Operator – Full Training Provided
MR Drivers Seeking HR Upgrade May Be Considered
Full-Time Permanent Position | HR Preferred | MR Upgrade Pathway | Training Provided
We are looking for the right person to join our team as an HR Vacuum Truck Driver / Operator servicing commercial customers throughout Sydney and surrounding areas.
Previous vacuum truck or liquid waste experience is not required.
A current HR licence is preferred; however, we are also open to considering an experienced and suitable MR-licensed driver who is willing to obtain their HR licence.
For the right candidate, we are prepared to support and fund the HR licence upgrade, subject to an agreed commitment to remain with the company for a period following completion of the training.
For us, finding someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, takes pride in their work and wants a long-term position is more important than finding someone who already has industry experience.
This is not simply a truck-driving position. It is a hands-on operational role combining heavy vehicle driving, equipment operation, physical work, customer service and independent problem-solving on site.
What You'll Be Doing
Your work will include:
Driving and operating an HR vacuum tanker to service commercial customers.
Safely operating vacuum pumps, hoses, valves and associated equipment, with full training provided where required.
Pumping and transporting grease trap, septic and other liquid waste.
Opening and closing grease trap and service pit lids using appropriate tools and safe work methods.
Setting up, handling and packing away vacuum hoses and equipment.
Attending scheduled jobs and managing your day effectively.
Communicating professionally with customers, site representatives, plumbers and other contractors.
Completing electronic service records, photographs and job notes using a smartphone or tablet.
Carrying out daily vehicle inspections and reporting defects or maintenance requirements.
Keeping your allocated truck, equipment and work areas clean and well presented.
Following Heavy Vehicle National Law, fatigue management requirements and company safety procedures.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Current HR Driver Licence or higher, or a current MR licence with suitable heavy vehicle experience and willingness to upgrade to HR.
For suitable MR applicants, HR licence training may be company-funded, subject to an agreed ongoing employment commitment.
Safe and responsible driving history.
Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
Physically capable of performing hands-on work throughout the day.
Strong commitment to workplace and heavy vehicle safety.
Able to work independently once trained.
Willing and capable of learning new equipment, procedures and systems.
Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for electronic job records.
Professional when dealing with customers and other people on site.
Able to take responsibility for your vehicle, equipment and assigned work.
Experience That Would Be Highly Regarded
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage, but is not essential:
Vacuum truck operation.
Liquid waste, wastewater or environmental services.
Grease traps, septic systems or sewer infrastructure.
Industrial or oily-water waste.
Heavy vehicle work involving pumps, hoses, hydraulics or similar equipment.
HC licence.
White Card.
Candidates coming from other industries are encouraged to apply if they have the right attitude and aptitude for the work.
A stable employment history demonstrating reliability and long-term commitment will be highly regarded.
You'll Probably Enjoy This Role If You...
✔ Like practical, hands-on work rather than spending the entire day behind the wheel.
✔ Take pride in looking after your truck, tools and equipment.
✔ Are comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for getting your jobs completed properly.
✔ Can think through problems when conditions on site aren't exactly as expected.
✔ Treat customers and other workers professionally.
✔ Prefer doing a job properly rather than taking shortcuts.
✔ Are looking for stable, long-term employment and an opportunity to learn additional skills.
This Role Probably Won't Suit You If You...
✘ Are looking for a driving-only job.
✘ Don't want to perform physical work or handle hoses and equipment.
✘ Regularly need supervision to stay organised or complete assigned work.
✘ Have difficulty arriving at scheduled jobs on time.
✘ Don't want responsibility for keeping a truck and its equipment clean and well maintained.
✘ Are unwilling to follow safety procedures, fatigue requirements or company processes.
What We Offer
Full-time, permanent employment.
Competitive hourly rate based on skills and experience.
Overtime opportunities.
Full training in vacuum truck operation and our liquid waste services for the right candidate.
Modern, well-maintained vehicles and equipment.
Uniforms and PPE provided.
Ongoing training and development.
Stable employment with an established and growing business.
A supportive team environment where reliability and good work are recognised.
The opportunity to develop specialist skills in an industry that provides essential services.
Interested?
If you already have an HR or HC licence, we'd be pleased to hear from you — whether or not you have previous vacuum truck or liquid waste experience.
You don't need industry experience to apply.
We also welcome applications from experienced MR drivers who are looking to progress to an HR licence and develop a long-term career with us. For the right person, we are prepared to invest in both your HR licence upgrade and the training required to become a competent vacuum truck operator.
We're not looking to fill the position simply as quickly as possible. We're looking for the right person to join the company for the long term.
Please submit your resume outlining your driving and employment history, along with a brief explanation of why you believe this type of role would suit you.
