The opportunity

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and friendly Pool Attendants to join Federation Council’s Corowa Aquatic Centre and Howlong Pool who have the following attributes:

• Are available early mornings, late afternoons, and weekends.

Role Description

This role is a lifeguard qualified position and training will be provided to suitable candidates. In addition to undertaking general operational and customer service duties, you will be responsible for providing a safe and supervised aquatic environment for all patrons. In this role, you will:

• Undertake lifeguard supervision of pools, monitoring patrons and enforcing pool rules.
• Perform water rescues, provide first aid, and administer CPR as required.
• Provide emergency care pending the arrival of appropriately qualified personnel.
• Carry out customer service and administration duties.
• Perform basic food preparation and service.
• Inspect and monitor pool facilities to identify and respond to faults and hazards.
• Undertake facility patrols to monitor activities of patrons and enforce pool rules.
• Conduct pool water sampling, pool, and facility cleaning.

Position Criteria

Council’s preferred candidates will ultimately possess a range of the following qualifications, experience, skills, and knowledge.

• Pool Lifeguard (SISSS00111) qualification or the ability to acquire.
• Current and valid Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001) qualification or the ability to acquire.
• Current and valid NSW Working with Children Check and National Criminal Check.
• Safe Food Handling Certificate or the ability to acquire.
• Proficient customer service skills including the ability to respond to enquiries, build rapport, manage complaints, and resolve conflict.
• Previous experience with point of sales and cash handling and/or basic food service.
• Previous experience cleaning and presenting facilities.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and make decisions independently.

On-the-job training and support will be provided for all successful candidates. Council will also assist with facilitating Pool Lifeguard training for suitable candidates. Successful Level 2 candidates will have the opportunity to attend in-house training for the Pool Lifeguard (SISSS00111) qualification, including first aid, on Saturday 24th October 2026 & Sunday 25th October 2026.

• Salary commencing at $40.46 per hour including casual loading (for 19 years and over). Junior rates apply to 18 years and under. Weekend work is paid at the base rate + penalty rates.
