What is the opportunity?

Thomas Borthwick and Sons are looking for an experienced supervisor for our rendering operations at our Bakers Creek Plant. The supervisor will assume a wide range of responsibilities and accountabilities as a pivotal member of our management team.

The position reports directly to the Production Manager of Facility and is directly responsible for overseeing employees of the Rendering Plant, and co-coordinating the operations performed in the Rendering Plant.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordination of production to ensure overall compliance of this plant, product safety, Occupational Health and Safety standards, Industrial Standards and Environmental standards.

• Liaising with Plant and Production Manager on regular basis

• Managing staff, including rosters, employee skills development, and team morale.

• Daily coordination and liaison with sales team, maximizing sale of meal, tallow and blood products for domestic and export markets.

• Planning and coordinating with Maintenance Manager for scheduling of maintenance.

• Develop recommendations for ongoing improvements.

• Ensure that all rendering plant & equipment is serviced and maintained.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

• Mechanical certifications or maintenance aptitude advantageous.

• Strong mechanical skills and proven problem-solving ability.

• Excellent communicator and people manager.

• Ability to work with minimal supervision, both independently and effectively as part of a team.

• Sound working knowledge of rendering process and all associated regulatory compliance requirements.
