About the role:Are you passionate about metal fabrication within the mining & construction industry? Are you looking for an apprenticeship that offers more than just basic workshop experience?
WA Limestone is seeking motivated, reliable, and genuinely eager to learn individuals to join our team as Apprentice Boilermakers for our January 2027 intake. Based at our purpose-built workshop in Bibra Lake, you'll receive hands-on training from experienced tradespeople while working on one of the most diverse fleets of mobile plant, fixed plant and quarrying equipment in Western Australia.
You'll gain exposure to every aspect of the trade — from precision light fabrication and structural repairs through to major rebuilds, wear protection and heavy plant maintenance — developing the skills and confidence to become a highly capable Boilermaker.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience fabricating, repairing and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and fixed plant, including:
Komatsu Excavators – PC300 to PC1250-8
Komatsu Loaders – WA380 – WA600
Komatsu Articulated & Rigid Dump Trucks – HM400/ HD785
Hitachi Excavators – ZX690 & ZX890
CAT Wheel Loaders – 980M & 988H/K
CAT Excavators – 320D to 395
CAT Articulated & Rigid Dump Trucks – 740 & 775F
CAT Dozers – D9 to D11R
Montabert, Atlas Copco & Epiroc Drill Rigs
Jaw, Cone & Impact Crushers – Fixed and Mobile
Fixed and Mobile Screening Plants
Heavy mobile plant buckets, blades, rippers and attachments.
Excavator booms, sticks, undercarriage components and structural repairs.
Dump truck trays, chassis and structural components.
Crushing and screening equipment.
Conveyor systems, chutes, hoppers and bins.
Fixed plant structures, platforms, handrails and walkways.
Wear plate replacement and hard facing.
General heavy fabrication and site maintenance.
Custom fabrication projects supporting quarrying, mining and construction operations.
You'll gain experience using a wide range of fabrication equipment and techniques, including MIG, Stick and Flux-Cored welding, oxy cutting, air arc gouging, plasma cutting, fabrication, fitting and reading engineering drawings.
Working on a modern, well-maintained and continually evolving fleet means you'll develop skills on the latest equipment and fabrication methods used throughout the mining, quarrying and construction industries.
About YouWe're looking for someone who is motivated, reliable and genuinely eager to learn.
To be successful, you will:
Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Be genuinely interested in building a career in the Boiler making and Engineering Fabrication trade.
Have completed a Certificate II Pre-Apprenticeship in Engineering (Fabrication), Metal Fabrication, or a related qualification.
Hold a current Manual C Class Driver's Licence.
Have Australian working rights.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Be a team player who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving and learning from experienced tradespeople.
Reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our Bibra Lake workshop, as reliable daily attendance is an essential part of the apprenticeship.
A nationally recognised Engineering Fabrication (Boiler making) apprenticeship.
Hands-on experience across one of WA's largest and most diverse mobile and fixed plant operations.
Structured mentoring from experienced tradespeople committed to your development.
Modern, fully equipped workshop facilities.
Exposure to heavy fabrication, structural repairs and major rebuild projects.
Specialist tooling and equipment supplied.
Regular rotations across multiple departments to maximise your learning.
