About the role
Adult Community Mental Health Services is a collaborative and multidisciplinary service dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing mental illness across Tasmania. The team brings together psychiatrists, medical officers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and other allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive, recovery-focused care within community settings.

The role offers broad exposure to a diverse range of mental health presentations and the opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team. You will participate in clinical reviews, emergency and after-hours services, quality improvement activities, teaching opportunities and specialist psychiatry training, making this an excellent opportunity to advance your career in mental health

The Department of Health Tasmania oversees various hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, as well as district hospitals and ambulance services. Additionally, it provides community health, mental health, and primary healthcare services to the Tasmanian community through more than 300 sites.
Tasmania, Australia's only island state, offers unparalleled natural beauty and a luxurious lifestyle. Pursuing your health career in Tasmania’s public health system means building strong connections with colleagues and patients. It also means embracing a lifestyle where you can enjoy extraordinary experiences outside of work while making a significant impact on the community during work.
Hobart has become a cultural centre, with year-round art and music events and restaurants serving gourmet local produce. Excellent educational opportunities and easy access to outdoor pursuits make this the perfect place to raise a family. Enjoy a more tranquil, community-orientated lifestyle while remaining only a short flight from the busy mainland.
Experience beautiful beaches and pristine alpine regions where you can enjoy a vast variety of sports and outdoor activities to suit everyone on the doorstep of a bustling capital city while enjoying the advantages of a short commute and excellent work-life balance.
In Tasmania you will be encouraged to be yourself, to learn, to grow and to develop meaning in your work. You will have a powerful connection to your patients and your colleagues, and the community will encourage your success. Our isolation helps drive a culture of creation and human connection, which feels both old fashioned and… like the only future worth pursuing.
