Senior Project Manager

The Role

Lead the delivery of complex process engineering projects for some of the region’s best-known food, beverage and dairy manufacturers. Based in Melbourne and reporting directly to our Managing Director (Australia), you will own your projects end to end — technically, commercially, and in the client relationship.

D2 Process delivers most of its work on a design, build and commission basis. That means you are involved from early concept through to a plant that is running and handed over, rather than a single slice of the lifecycle. It is a broad brief, and it suits someone who wants accountability for the whole outcome.

What you will do

• Manage projects technically and commercially across the full delivery cycle, on site and off site.

• Deliver to budget — with a real drive to beat it — and to programme.

• Forecast and report project revenue, profitability, margin, cost to complete and forecast completion date accurately.

• Manage variations promptly and efficiently.

• Build, execute and revise work plans as project requirements change.

• Resource projects appropriately, assign clear responsibilities, and monitor workflow against deliverables.

• Manage client expectations and keep project status visible and current.

• Apply and enforce the D2 Process project methodology and standards, and help improve them.

• Lead safety and wellbeing on your projects — preventing harm and enabling people to do their best work.

• Build long-term client relationships and identify add-on and business development opportunities as they arise.

What you will bring

• An engineering or related degree.

• At least five years managing engineering projects in the dairy, food and beverage, or pharmaceutical sectors.

• A sound grounding in project management principles. A formal qualification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is well regarded.

• Strong commercial understanding across all phases of a project.

• Experience leading diverse site teams on complex, multi-disciplinary work.

• A focus on safety, quality and delivering value to the client.

• Valid working rights in Australia.

Travel

This role involves regular travel to client sites around Australia — in the order of 25 to 30% of your time — with occasional involvement in projects elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region.
