About the role
The Role
Applications are invited for the position of Data and AI Governance Officer.
The Data and AI Governance Officer supports the responsible use of data and AI across the Insurance Commission by assisting with governance frameworks, coordinating governance activities, and delivering capability uplift. This role is designed to grow, taking on greater responsibility for governance execution, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring consistent governance practices across business areas and initiatives.
At Level 6, the role leads the delivery and application of defined Data and AI Governance standards, tools or domains, applying established frameworks to complex initiatives and providing recommendations to support management decision‑making.
The Person
You bring an understanding of data and AI governance frameworks, including ethical use, compliance requirements, and risk management principles. You have the ability to apply emerging governance practices and tools while maintaining governance registers, workflows, and artefacts with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You are able to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with stakeholders to support governance initiatives. You will also contribute to governance-related projects, documentation, and stakeholder engagement activities, helping to promote strong governance practices across the organisation.

The Insurance Commission is a State owned Government Trading Enterprise that provides motor injury insurance to 2.7 million Western Australian motorists and manages the self-insurance arrangements of the Western Australian Government.

Appointment Information
