Maintenance Supervisor – Aged Care Employment Opportunity
Fulltime Employment with Purpose in a Compassionate, Community-Focused Environment
Are you an experienced and hands‑on maintenance professional looking for a rewarding role where your work directly supports the comfort, safety, and wellbeing of residents? We are seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to join our aged care team.
About the Role
As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair and presentation of Hellenic Community Aged Care's facilities, grounds, equipment and infrastructure. You will also carry out hands on maintenance activities and supervise maintenance and grounds staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, Australian Standards, Building Codes and Aged Care regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities include:
Maintenance Operations: Hands on facilities and grounds maintenance; Supervise maintenance and grounds staff and contractors; Plan, coordinate and undertaking preventative and reactive maintenance across all facilities and grounds; Ensure building systems, plant, equipment and infrastructure are maintained in a safe and operational condition; Conduct routine inspections of buildings, resident rooms, common areas, outdoor spaces, vehicles and equipment; Prioritise and respond to maintenance requests within agreed service timeframes; Monitor and maintain schedules and asset registers.
Team Leadership: Lead, supervise and support maintenance and grounds employees and external contractors; Allocate work, monitor performance, mentor, train and promote a positive, collaborative and customer focused team culture.
Compliance and Safety : Comply with WHS legislation, Australian Standards, Building Codes and Aged Care Regulations; Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practice; Identify hazards and take action to minimise risk; Participate in workplace inspections, audits, emergency preparedness activities and incident investigations; Ensure contractor compliance with organisational safety requirements.
Asset and Facilities Management: Assist with asset planning, budgeting and capital works projects; Maintain accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation and service reports; Monitor contractor performance and service agreements; Obtain quotations and recommend maintenance and replacement solutions; Support facility refurbishment and improvement projects.
Grounds and Environmental Maintenance: Perform grounds maintenance activities and supervise grounds staff and contractors; Oversee the upkeep of gardens, outdoor areas, pathways, fences, irrigation systems and car parks; Ensure external areas remain safe, accessible and aesthetically maintained.
Resident and Customer Service: Build positive relationships with residents, families, staff and visitors; Respond to maintenance concerns respectfully and on time; Demonstrate understanding of person-centred care principles and the importance of maintaining residents' comfort, dignity and quality of life.
Emergency and On-Call Support: Participate in emergency response activities as required; Assist with emergency maintenance, equipment failures and facility incidents; Participate in an on-call roster where applicable
Work Health and Safety: Comply with all Work, Health and Safety (WHS) obligations; Follow safe manual handling procedures; Report hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses immediately; Take reasonable care for the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others; Support a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices
What We're Looking For:
Essential: Trade Qualification in a relevant field (eg Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Building Maintenance or equivalent); Minimum three years' experience in facilities or maintenance management; Experience supervising staff and contractors; Sound knowledge of building maintenance systems and property management; Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements; Ability to prioritise competing demands and manage workloads effectively; Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills; Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable: Experience in aged care, healthcare, retirement living or community services environments; Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards; First Aid Certificate; Fire Warden or Emergency Response training; Experience in asset management and capital works coordination; NDIS Worker Screening Check
Mandatory Requirements: To work at Hellenic Community Aged Care, you must possess or be willing to obtain the following:
National Police Clearance
Current WA Driver's License
Evidence of right to work in Australia
Immunisation in accordance with Hellenic Community Aged Care policy
