About the Role

The Head of Area - Primary, is a key middle leadership position responsible for the educational leadership, management and continuous improvement of a defined area within the Primary School. As a member of the Primary Middle Leadership Team, the Head of Area provides day-to-day line management and leadership of staff, promotes excellence in teaching and learning, supports student wellbeing, and drives consistent implementation of the College priorities across their area.

• Can inspire, mentor and support teachers and Education Assistants to foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
• Has a proven ability to lead change, drive continuous improvement and implement strategic priorities within a school setting.
• Values strong partnerships with students, families, staff and the wider College community.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education or recognised teaching qualification, with preference given to applicants holding an Early Childhood qualification.
• Current Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) registration.

Experience       

•  Experience leading curriculum, pedagogy and school improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching practice.
• Experience mentoring, coaching and developing staff.
• Experience analysing student achievement, engagement and wellbeing data to inform decision-making and improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change and build positive relationships with staff, students and families.

Essential Criteria

• A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Active participation in a church or Christian community, exemplifying Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices.
• Acceptance of the College’s Statement of Faith.
• Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board, Principal, staff, students, and parents.
• Commitment to personal best practice.
• Ensure decisions are impartial, fact-based, and fair.
• Model appropriate and proper channels of communication.
• Consistently act in the best interests of the College and its ethos.
• Adherence to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC.
• Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the College’s values and policies.

Possession of the following certifications:

• National Police Clearance.
• Working with Children Check.
• First Aid Certificate.
