TES – Work Experience Placement Team Member – 1.1 Cas 13wk Cont ATSI

Position Summary

Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.

The Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES) program helps jobseekers in remote communities by providing a flexible employment service that supports them to upskill, find pathways to work and contribute to their local community. Using RAES funding, Tangentyere Council has created Work Experience to Employment program.

The Work Experience to Employment program is a short-term paid placement designed to build employability skills, explore career pathways, and prepare for sustainable employment. Working under the guidance of the Training and Work Experience Placement Consultant, the Work Experience Placement Team Member contributes to day-to-day workplace tasks and participates in accredited and non-accredited learning activities. The role supports a safe and respectful workplace, follows organisational policies and procedures, and works to identify and address barriers that may impact future employment. Throughout the placement, the participant is supported to build confidence, work habits, and transferable skills, and to identify suitable ongoing employment opportunities to apply for.

As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.

Responsibilities

• ·Attend the placement as scheduled, arrive on time, and notify the Training and Work Experience Placement Consultant (or workplace supervisor) as soon as possible if you are running late or unable to attend.
• ·Follow reasonable instructions and participate in tasks assigned by the workplace supervisor, appropriate to your skills and the placement activities.
• ·Carry out duties safely and in line with workplace procedures, including using equipment correctly and following all Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
• ·Demonstrate respectful, professional behaviour, including teamwork, appropriate language, and positive engagement with staff, clients, and Town Camp residents.
• ·Participate in accredited and/or non-accredited learning activities, coaching, and feedback sessions to build work readiness and transferable skills.
• ·Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
• ·Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
• ·Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
• ·Other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

Required

• ·Ability to manage own time and be responsible to communicate when not available for work
• ·Willingness to follow direction and learn new skills
• ·Commitment to safely operate vehicles, plant and equipment and be able to communicate issues found
• ·Willingness to learn how to work independently and work as part of a team
• ·Hold a current NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, and a satisfactory Police Check (within 6 months).

Desired

• ·Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
• ·Current NT Drivers Licence or willingness to obtain one.
• ·An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
