Here's your opportunity to join the Emergency & Critical Care team at North Shore Veterinary Specialist Centre (NSVSC), a dynamic, supportive, and highly skilled hospital located on Sydney's Lower North Shore.

About Us

NSVSC is a leading 24/7 multidisciplinary referral hospital located on Sydney's North Shore. Our specialists in surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, exotics, cardiology and oncology work alongside experienced emergency clinicians and highly skilled nurses to deliver exceptional patient care in a truly collaborative environment.

Our associated General Practice service manages first-opinion consultations and walk-in emergencies, allowing our ECC team to focus on the patients who truly require specialist critical care and advanced intervention.

Our purpose-built facility is equipped to support the highest standard of ECC medicine, including:

• Fully equipped in-house laboratory (biochemistry, haematology and blood gas)
• Comprehensive diagnostic imaging — two ultrasound rooms, digital X-ray, a 128-slice GE CT scanner and a Siemens 1.5T MRI
• Mindray ventilators
• Fluoroscopy and endoscopy
• Three fully equipped operating theatres
• In-house blood bank with blood product preparation capabilities
• Dedicated ICU with cot beds and oxygen cages
• VECCS Level II Accreditation

The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced emergency veterinarian to cover a mixture of night and weekend shifts, working independently to manage overnight caseload while the hospital's specialist teams are off-site.

You'll be the clinical backbone of our after-hours care — triaging, stabilising, and managing emergency patients with confidence, and knowing when and how to escalate to our specialist team. This role suits a vet who's genuinely comfortable working solo overnight and wants the autonomy that comes with it, backed by a hospital built for serious ECC work.

About You

We'd love to hear from you if you:

• Hold a BVSc, DVM, or equivalent, with eligibility for registration in NSW
• Have ECC/emergency experience and are confident running a night shift independently
• Have strong triage and case management skills across a wide range of emergency presentations
• Are driven to continue advancing your emergency medicine skills within a specialist-supported environment
