Basketball Trainer

About the role

The Basketball Lab Underwood Pty Ltd is seeking a passionate and experienced Basketball Trainer to join our coaching team in Underwood, QLD. This is a casual position that offers flexibility whilst making a meaningful impact on the development of basketball players across all levels. As a Basketball Trainer, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality instruction, skill development and coaching to our diverse player base, helping them achieve their athletic potential and fostering a love for the game.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting individual and group basketball training sessions, focusing on fundamental skills, technique refinement and overall player development

• Developing and delivering tailored training programmes based on individual player needs, abilities and developmental stages

• Providing constructive feedback and guidance to players during training to encourage improvement and build confidence

• Maintaining a safe and inclusive training environment that promotes skill development and player wellbeing

• Monitoring player progress and documenting development over time

• Collaborating with other coaching staff to ensure consistent messaging and high standards of instruction

• Promoting The Basketball Lab's values and helping to build a positive community atmosphere

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a basketball coach, trainer or instructor, demonstrating a strong technical knowledge of basketball

• Excellent teaching and communication skills with the ability to explain complex techniques clearly to players of varying abilities within a small group context

• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain these qualifications)

• Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to apply for one

• A genuine passion for basketball and commitment to player development

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and inspire players

• Physical fitness and ability to demonstrate basketball skills and techniques

• Reliability and punctuality in meeting training commitments

• Experience working with diverse age groups and skill levels is advantageous

• Knowledge of coaching best practices and current basketball trends is preferred
