As a Cyber Security Engineer at Fiona Stanley Hospital, you’ll play a vital role in protecting the hospital’s ICT systems, data, and digital assets. You’ll design, implement, and maintain security solutions that safeguard one of Australia’s most advanced healthcare environments.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Cyber Security Manager and broader ICT team to strengthen system defences, ensure compliance with Australian standards, and support the day-to-day operations of Serco’s security framework. Your work will directly support the delivery of safe, reliable, and secure digital services that enable high-quality patient care.
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll make a positive impact by:
Implementing and managing advanced security systems such as firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management solution and proxiesIntegrating and maintaining security tools across on-premises and cloud platformsIdentifying and implementing changes to optimise the incumbent security solutions to maximise the value of these investmentsEnsuring compliance with ACSC Essential 8, ASD ISM, and other governance standardsEmbedding security into applications and cloud environments through the development lifecycleSupporting Security Analysts to strengthen overall SOC capability and be the escalation point of contact.Collaborating with IT, network, and development teams to deliver secure, resilient solutionsContributing to the continuous improvement of Serco’s cybersecurity governance framework

To Be Successful In This Role You’ll Have
Cloud Security Certifications are requiredDeep understanding of firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection technologiesExperience in cyber security, vulnerability management, and identifying risks and their mitigation strategies.Experience with Network Identity and Access Management tools is highly desirable.Understanding of governance frameworks, NIST 2.0 CSF, ASD ISM, ACSC Essential 8, ISO27001.Certifications in security toolsets are preferredITIL Foundation Certification and/or CCNA Security - preferredBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment and support on-call operations as required.
