Disability Support Worker – Merrylands

Summary

Supporting Independent Living Co-Operative (SILC), a not-for-profit provider, is seeking experienced and passionate Disability Support Workers to join our dedicated team at Cherish Hub at Merrylands.

This role requires excellent communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. Successful applicants will be able to implement behaviour support strategies consistently, safely, and in line with individual support plans while promoting the person’s independence, dignity, and quality of life.

We’re looking for reliable, flexible, and proactive team members who are available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, sleepovers, and public holidays, and who can respond to short-notice staffing requirements when required. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while building positive relationships with residents, families, and stakeholders is essential.

About the role

You will support resident to follow structured routines, increase independence, and participate meaningfully in daily life. The role involves working independently:

• Supporting daily living skills 
• Implementing proactive and reactive behaviour strategies
• Providing community access and skill-building opportunities
• Following comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans
• Accurate documentation and consistent communication with the support team and family
• Following medication administration requirements, including PRN administration

Shifts are available across weekdays and weekends:

• 3.00pm-10:00pm (sleepover shift 10:00pm-7:00am) 
• 7:00am-9:00am
• 09.00am-3pm 

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2+ years’ experience supporting people with autism and complex behaviours of concern
• Ability to remain calm and implement de-escalation techniques during high-intensity incidents
• Confident working independently while following detailed support plans
• Strong communication and adaptability to everyone’s needs
• Patient, respectful and committed to improving quality of life
• Current NSW Driver’s Licence and reliable, insured vehicle
• Availability for a variety of shifts, including weekends

Essential Requirements

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
• First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
• NSW Driver’s License
