About the Opportunity:

Pursuant of Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, the occupant of this position must be of Aboriginal descent. 

We are currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to appoint to a permanent, full-time Aboriginal Mental Health Worker position working with the Royal Perth Hospital. The Aboriginal Mental Health Worker provides a social support service and provide accessibility of community mental health and inpatient services to Aboriginal people in the Perth metropolitan area. This role provides support and cultural expertise to the Wungen Kartup multi-disciplinary team, and is an integral part of the culturally secure services provided by Wungen Kartup. In this position, the successful applicant will maintain a caseload of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. Key duties include, but are not limited to;

• Work collaboratively with other members of the Wungen Kartup team to enhance the provision of appropriate mental health assessment, crisis intervention, assertive follow-up and education to individuals, families and Aboriginal communities.
• Provide advice to the mental health team on Aboriginal culture and local issues.
• Active involvement in the planning and implementation of individual treatment plans for clients and active involvement in the care and treatment of consumers.
• Performs duties in accordance with the EMHS Vision and Values, WA Health Code of Conduct, Occupational Safety and Health legislation, the Disability Services Act and the Equal Opportunity Act and Government, WA Health, EMHS and Departmental / Program specific policies and procedures.
