About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Work Group Leader Signals, you will play a key role in maintaining the operational integrity, safety, and efficiency of a designated section of the rail corridor. This position involves hands-on technical work as well as contributing to continuous improvement and team capability.
Install, modify, maintain, and repair signalling and communications equipment in line with technical maintenance plans, signalling standards, and safe working procedures
Conduct inspections and testing of signalling equipment, diagnose and isolate faults, and ensure all required certifications are completed accurately
Install and maintain mechanical signalling, locking, and interlocking systems
Maintain signalling infrastructure, including aerial telecommunications lines and cabling
Respond promptly to emergencies and equipment irregularities, ensuring systems are safely restored to service
Maintain tools, materials, vehicles, and equipment in good working order
Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance practices and work processes
Support the optimisation of infrastructure performance and availability

About the Team
Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several
nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning
across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk
products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of
consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items
for both import and export markets. The Operations teams work within several
complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail
corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable
service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the
community.
