About the role
Are you an experienced communications professional looking for a flexible role where your work can make a real difference?
The Cooperative Trials Group for Neuro-Oncology (COGNO) is seeking a Communications and Engagement Coordinator to help connect, inform and engage Australia's neuro-oncology community.
Working closely with the Executive Officer, you'll create engaging content, manage COGNO's digital communications, support member engagement and help strengthen the profile of a national organisation committed to improving outcomes for people affected by brain and central nervous system tumours.
This role offers variety, autonomy and purpose within a three-day-a-week position and may particularly suit an experienced communications or marketing professional looking to balance work with other professional or personal commitments.
Reporting to the Executive Officer, you will:
Develop and deliver communications across digital and traditional channels
Create engaging content for COGNO's website, email communications and social media
Support member engagement and promote COGNO initiatives, activities and events
Maintain website content and other digital platforms
Monitor communications performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Coordinate external communications providers where required
Work collaboratively with COGNO's staff, members and stakeholders to deliver professional and consistent communications
Working within a small, collaborative team, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work while helping ensure COGNO's communications remain engaging, professional and aligned with its strategic priorities.
We're looking for someone who brings:
Experience in communications, marketing, digital content or stakeholder engagement
Excellent writing, editing and content development skills
Experience managing websites, email marketing and social media platforms
Strong organisational skills and the ability to independently manage competing priorities
Good judgement and attention to detail
A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach
Experience in the health, medical research, membership or not-for-profit sectors will be highly regarded.
At COGNO, you'll have the opportunity to:
Make a tangible contribution to improving outcomes for people affected by brain tumours
Enjoy the flexibility of a 0.6 FTE role with meaningful responsibility and autonomy
Work primarily remotely, with regular opportunities to connect in person
Join a passionate, supportive and purpose-driven team
Build relationships with leading neuro-oncology clinicians, researchers and consumers across Australia
Contribute to nationally significant research, education and engagement initiatives
Access generous not-for-profit salary packaging of up to $15,900 for living expenses plus an additional $2,650 for meal entertainment each FBT year
Please submit your resume and a statement outlining your interest and experience relevant to the role. Your statement should address the key selection criteria in the Position Description, although you do not need to respond separately to every criterion.
Applications must be submitted via SEEK by 11:59 pm on 23 August 2026.
Applications may close earlier if sufficient suitable applications are received, so early applications are encouraged.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted regarding the outcome of their application.
For role-specific enquiries, please contact Dr Vino Pillay, Executive Officer, via the 'Opportunities' page on the COGNO website.
Please note that applications will not be accepted via email.
