About the RoleWe're looking for a technically strong Financial Accountant to join our Brisbane-based finance team.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of the month-end close, drive the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, and play a leading role in strengthening our systems, controls and reporting as the business grows. This is a hands-on, technical role suited to someone who wants to own their numbers end-to-end and have real influence over how the finance function operates.
What You’ll Be DoingMonth-End Close & Financial Reporting
• Own and manage the end-to-end month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion
• Prepare and review general ledger, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting commentary
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including journals, accruals, prepayments and fixed asset acounting
• Prepare cash flow reporting and analysis
Compliance & Reporting
• Assist with preparation and lodging of monthly BAS, payroll tax, and FBT
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Systems & Process Improvement
• Identify and lead improvements to finance systems, processes and controls to support a scaling business
• Drive automation and efficiency across reconciliations, reporting and month-end
Business Support & Process Improvement
• Work closely with the Financial Controller and wider business to provide insight and support decision-making
• Act as a key point of contact for finance-related queries across the business
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members, reviewing work and helping develop their finance function
You're technically capable, proactive and detail-oriented, with a genuine interest in improving how things are done. You take ownership of your work, communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, and are comfortable solving problems independently.
You’ll bring:
• CA or CPA qualified, or in the final stages of completion
• 3+ years' relevant financial accounting experience, ideally within a corporate or commercial environment
• Strong technical knowledge of month-end close, reconciliations and financial reporting
• A track record of identifying and implementing process and systems improvements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly
• Advanced Excel skills and strong experience with accounting systems
• High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
